Does anyone know this question. I have a garden and want to know the best time to pick them.
When they are ripe. I especially like tomatoes in the afternoon when they are hot. I just pick and eat them right there. You can pick tomatoes early even when they are partially green, I do this when I get the report of the first freeze day. Then put them in a window to ripen. Different species signal their ripeness in different ways. If you are going to eat them that day, you can wait until they are soft. Otherwise I pick them when they are fully red and firm.
Peppers have a much wider range for when best to pick. Trial and error is the best teacher. The only thing to watch out is if you wait too long they will start getting spots of decay.

I have been to the supermarket and have seen the small packs of these seeds to sow and they supposedly grow very quickly.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me any good perennials that grow and spread quickly and look very nice and which bloom for a long time?
Thanks for your answers!
The area that I am wishing to fill is partial shade.
Here are some suggestions,
Lupins,Delphiniums,Kniphofias(Red hot pokers),Anemone japonica,Rudbeckia speciosa and Geums.
If possible, start the seeds in a seed tray or individual pots in a greenhouse,or cold frame. For outdoor sowing, choose a sheltered spot, rake the soil to a fine tilth, sow the seed in rows.Mark the rows,(The seed packet’s useful for identification).Transplant the seedlings carefully to their flowering position when large enough to handle.
Avoid sowing seed direct, this rarely produces satisfactory results.

i’m planning decking for my back garden and to support the decking i have chosen to use bolt down post supports. What fasteners are best used to secure these to a concrete patio floor. Also what fasteners are best used to secure a beam to an external wall. The beam will be used to support the decking will be 2.5m long and suspended at height of 400mm
I used dynabolts on my patio/concrete and they are brill , they should be OK for supporting a beam that size

I’m building a box garden for my yard this week, I wanted to know what vegetables grow well here in Hawaii. Without a cold season, and it being September, what would grow well this winter? I appreciate any advice, I’ve been doing my research but haven’t stumbled upon any websites specific to this region. Thank you!
While there is the idea of "seasonlessness" in Hawaii, this is not exactly true. Because Hawaii is not directly on the equator, there is some variation regarding weather. It is mostly either a day length issue or a heat issue for plants that have trouble in Hawaii. While in the fall and summer, lettuce is known to bolt because of the heat, in the winter, it can do quite nicely. May I recommend looking into "short day" crops which are available for many crops, including onions. Eggplant does well in Hawaii, as does sweet potato, and most radishes. Feel free to experiment and see what takes and what doesnt. My advice, be careful with tomato, it is a great plant, but fruits excessively in Hawaii and could cause fruit flies. Good luck!

My favorite heirloom sauce tomato is Amish paste. You can get certified organic seed at http://www.fedcoseed.com and http://www.seedsavers.org.
Opalka is my second favorite. Flavor is about as good but the Amish paste yield about 3x more.
Roma is a good sauce tomato but a hybrid, not heirloom.
