How do you best grow peanuts from seeds?
Posted on Jul 06, 2009 under Best Seeds | 2 CommentsI am working in a project and want to germinate peanut seeds. Whats the best enviroment to start them out in. This is for potted peanut plants. Thanks!!
You will need raw fresh peanuts that have been harvested and processed specifically for planting. The ones you buy in the market for eating or cooking probably are too old and dry to germinate although you could try if you want.
Plant them by placing the shelled seeds on a level layer of potting soil and pressing them in so that the tops are just barely showning. Moisten and keep warm. Bottom heat helps if you have that ability. They are like coffee seeds in that they will bifurcate as they absorb moisture, but don’t disturb them till they sprout. Then pot up as any other plant.
Where is the BEST place/ website to get Good cheap seeds for a Vegetable garden?
