what are the best vegetables to give to my rabbit?

Posted on Oct 01, 2009 under Best Vegetables |

i don’t want a list of every vegetable known to man that she can eat
just the best, nutritious ones for rabbits.

Hi Justin,

There are lots of veggies you can give your bunnies. Here are some that we use

Romaine Lettuce (no light leaves, no iceberg lettuce)
Cilantro (our bunnies favorite)
Parsley
Pea Pods (the thin edible kind)
Peppermint Leaves
Radish Tops
Beet Tops
Green Peppers
Wheat Grass
Clover
Dandelion Greens
Basil

You can use some fruits as occasional treats. We give them about once a week.

Oranges without the peel
Raisins (no more than one or two a week)
Bananas (no more than one or two slices a week)
Fresh Pineapple (this is very good for them and is recommended especially when they are shedding)

You said you didn’t want a complete list but you can find a longer list at House Rabbit Society web-site.

carrot are not that great for rabbits. they are too sugary and bunnies cant digest sugar!!
    and lettuce gives them diarrhea!

good veggies are cucumber, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cress, runner beans, green beans, carrot tops

you should give you bun about 3 portions of veg a day, including their dry food and plenty of hay :^D
