The new Food Safety …
The new Food Safety Modernization Act will eventually outlaw private gardens. Soon only the giant multinational corporations will control all food and water.
Help raise awareness about this issue before it’s too late!

They produce …
They produce suckers and the suckers grow into new plants, and the older produces more until it gets too old. The only problem is don’t plant them next to or where tomatoes grew since they share similar diseases. You have to watch out for the suckers though. You have to keep them in check otherwise you’ll have strawberry plants everywhere, more than you can handle.

If the large leaves …
If the large leaves are blocking cut them off close to the base, this will increase ventilation and an opening for bees and pollinators to get to them. If you are getting very few flowers, add some fertilizer that is high in phosphorous, instead of nitrogen.

A strawberry patch …
A strawberry patch will produce berries for several years. However, after four years the bed is past its best, so many gardeners plant a new bed each year and, once the plants have fruited, dig up the oldest bed and plant peas or beans in it.

Despite advice about growing them in full sun, they WILL grow in light to medium dappled shade…they do after all orginate from the woods. I have mine growing in part shade and they do just fine. Grow some strawberries! You can also grow them in pots!

Just planted 25 …
Just planted 25 Cavendish and 25 Honeyoe strawberries.
I used 1.6 gal plastic nursery pots then built 5 troughs out of 2×12s where that hold 10 pots in each. The troughs sit on top of concrete blocks and the berrys hang down. This keeps them off the ground from insects and birds cant get the berries.
I use a cedar grove compost from a specialty dirt yard. Just add a little sand to form a sandy loam. I use a 10-10-10 all purpose plant food and a shot of b-1 when starting the cuttings.
